What we do

YVS is for young people aged 5 to 18 (can be up to 25 for those with additional needs) who want help and support when they have been victims of (or affected by) crime, anti-social behaviour or domestic abuse. The Service is provided throughout Avon and Somerset, covering Bath and North East Somerset, Bristol, North Somerset, Somerset and South Gloucestershire.

We use a range of methods including face to face and online work with young people drawing on their strengths to empower them to move forward from their experience with increased resilience. Young people can be supported to access clear information, advice and guidance for their journey.

Young people or their families can refer. Referrals are also taken from the Lighthouse Victim and Witness Care Service, Police, Youth Offending and Social Care agencies, parents/carers, teachers, doctors, nurses and other professionals. The young people have to agree to receiving support from YVS and parental consent may be required for younger young people.
